Diesel Exhaust & Emissions Control Services in Edmonton

If you manage a fleet then you know that commercial trucks have many expenses, with diesel exhaust & emissions control being one of the top maintenance costs. To get the best performance out of your engine we have to control not only what goes into the engine but also what comes out of it in the form of emissions. When experiencing performance problems, we always check for fluid and exhaust leaks and other issues to avoid the same emissions problems from occurring again and adding to repair costs and downtime. Here are some of the exhaust and emissions control services we provide:

The mistake that most fleet managers make is thinking the exhaust system is a separate entity from the rest of the engine. While replacing components in the diesel emissions systems will temporarily solve the problem, these issues are usually symptoms of the real problem. We aim to properly diagnose and assess the root cause of the failure to help save you money in the long run.

How Often Should You Clean Your DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter)?

While OEM’s recommend pulling the filter and cleaning it after 300,000 – 400,000 km, at this point carbon is packed so tightly in it that the filter is not cleanable and must be replaced. We recommend cleaning your DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) yearly or between 150,000 – 200,000 km. The DPF is a serviceable filter and does not need to be replaced every time if it’s properly maintained. Regular maintenance will stop the DPF from becoming clogged with ash and debris, and ultimately triggering a fault code and causing the engine to perform poorly.

Here are some of the benefits of regular DPF maintenance:

Causes of Blocked DPF's (Diesel Particulate Filters)

If you’ve noticed a decline in the performance of your engine and excessive black smoke coming from the exhaust then you may have a blocked filter. This can often be caused by frequent short journeys at low speeds, as the filter is unable to clean itself. Here are some more things that can contribute to a diesel particulate filter blockage:

Whether you manage a whole fleet or just one truck, regular exhaust and emissions control maintenance can save you a lot of time and money in the long run.
